Christian Hammer

Guitarist Christian Hammer (1967) studied jazz guitar with Wim Overgaauw, Jesse van Ruller and Maarten van der Grinten at the Amsterdamer Hochschule der Künste. Later he took part in master classes and workshops by Russell Malone, Attila Zoller, Kenny Barron and others. He lives in Gelsenkirchen and plays solo and in various jazz bands and projects in the border area between music, theater, dance and fine art. Current projects are: Kioomars Musayyebi Quartet (Finalist Creole 2017), The Dorf (avandgardistic major instrumentation under the direction of Jan Klare, Jazzpreis Ruhr 2013), lichterklanglabor (free impulses to light works by Karl Rosenwald), Hammerhead (organ trio with Martin Scholz and Wolfgang Ekholt) In the Gelsenkirchener Galerie "werkstatt" he runs a concert series under the title "Hammer + 3" with changing guests (with Matthias Bergmann, Tobias Reisige, Matthias Nadolny, Sandra Hempel, Yonga Sun and others) "). In 2010, he was also curator of the concert series "jump monk" in Dortmunder Domicil (among others with guests like Eckard Koltermann, Achim Krämer, Ingo Senst)
