I love jazz because of its complexity and flexibility. I was first exposed to jazz in 1974, I was invited by my USAF barracks roommate to see Two Generations of Brubeck in Austin TX. I met [musician name]... The best show I ever attended was Bob James at Gervasi Vineyard in Canton, Ohio in 2023 (?). The first jazz record I bought was Weather Report's live recording "8:30". My advice to new listeners is to get out and hear and support live jazz, also learn to play an instrument and improvise from fake books. Or whatever else you have in mind.
