			Michelle Lordi
In the pure heart of the song
With her exquisitely warm, sensuous tone and a personality to match, Michelle is
captivating audiences with music that spans 3 generations of heartfelt love songs
from the American Songbook, originals and beyond.
She is known especially for her pure, dream-like voicing of ballads and other songs
rarely heard in jazz clubs, and her earthy sense of humor and deep devotion to her
songs enchants her audiences.
Michelle's connection with her material is unflaggingly honest, and the resulting
music she makes is true and beautiful. Her profound love of the music she chooses
to sing and the musicians she creates with is evident in every note of her vividly
expressive and elegantly communicative voice.
Jazz vocalist Michelle Lordi is receiving international critical acclaim and heavy
rotation on jazz radio stations in the U. S. and abroad for her latest recording
project, Drive which featured and is produced by Grammy nominated pianist Orrin
Evans.
Drive “conveys the simmering sexual undercurrent of “You’re My Thrill”, the
wounded heart of “I Fall in Love Too Easily” and the wistful longing of “My Ideal”.
The title track comes from an album by the 80s pop group, The Cars, and Lordi’s
transformation of the song strips away all of the electronica to tell the story of a
personal intervention… [and] proves her bona fides as a premier jazz singer. ”
- Thomas Cuniffe, Jazz History Online 10/2015
“Singer Michelle Lordi has released a notable CD in Drive…She is Julie London
intimate, Straight forward, clear and appropriately dreamy. Even so she builds up
tension…The backing is perfect across the board and Orrin Evans does some
wonderful, almost haunting, reharmonizations on “I Fall In Love Too Easily”. A very
pleasant and understated album.”
-Robert Rusch/Cadence Magazine July 2015
“Lordi’s singing is reminiscent of Chet Baker’s minimalist style, allowing for
exceptional rapport between her and her instrumentalists. She is rapidly gaining a
reputation as one of the finest singers on the circuit today, and Drive is a further
illustration of her remarkable talent.”
-Victor L. Schermer/ All About Jazz March 2015
