Lyght

Randy Lyght is a remarkable jazz vocalist living in Kitchener who has 20 years singing experience.

About Me

When Randy decided it was time to record a CD, he had no choice but to choose songs of entertainers he greatly respects and admires. Although his roots were mainly in contemporary music, jazz always had a place in his heart. He considers it an honour when his fans compare his textured vocal style to some of the great singers such as Tony Bennett, Nat King Cole and Frank Sinatra. Growing up in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Randy had his own bands in the late 60's and early 70's, Mixed breed and Black Lyghtning along side other great bands of the time including The Fugitives and The Thorns featuring Rick Lazar and Paul Shaffer. From 1974-1976, Randy toured 10 countries with the World Renowned Platters group. His musical talent only became stronger under the direction of his fellow performers Jackie Richardson, Tony Gaines and Jason Mack. In the 1980's Randy , living in Vancouver, BC, he performed in live entertainment venues provided by his agent at the time Paul Mascioli, owner of Prestige Entertainment Agency in Victoria BC. He also recorded a single cover of “Feel Live Making Love” produced by Hermann Fruhm at Mushroom Studios, which received some radio airplay at the time across Canada. He also worked with producer Brian Griffiths at Little Mount Sound, recording radio jingles for such clients as The Louisville Times and a tribute song for the University of British Columbia. Randy now resides in Kitchener, Ontario. After taking the time to raise a family, he was encouraged to once again pursue his passion for music. In 2011 under the musical direction of award winning producer, J.Richard Hutt, he recorded his first CD release “Just In Time”, now receiving airplay on 6 radio stations in southern Ontario including 98.5 CKWR, Waterloo and Easy 101.3, Tillsonburg. Being awarded with a Factor Grant (Foundation to Assist Canadian Talent on Records) in 2012, Randy is back in the studio with J.Richard Hutt at Cedartree Recording Studio working on a Christmas CD due for release later in 2012. Presently, Randy performs with a very talented jazz quintet at various live venues in Ontario.
