About Me

Garcia-Bazan is an active Jazz Composer with experience in Orchestral Conducting.

I am a Mexican composer/conductor, born 1984. I completed my Bachelor in Music at Berklee College of Music (2008) with a major in Jazz Composition. I was a Dean’s List Recipient for every semester enrolled at Berklee, thus graduating with honors as Magna Cum Laude. While at Berklee College of Music, I studied conducting primarily with David Callahan, Ronald Feldman, and Valerie Taylor. I have conducted a variety of instrumental setups, from String Orchestra, Flute Ensemble, and Brass Ensemble; to Keyboard Ensembles and Conducting to Visuals using punches and streamers. As a composer, I studied with renown Berklee faculty composers such as Greg Hopkins, Bob Pilkington, and Richard Lowell; among many others. I have multiple Jazz pieces for small ensemble, 6 Horns, Big Band, String Quartet, etc. My works incorporate sounds and textures from his major influences which range from traditional styles such as Count Basie and Duke Ellington, to contemporary techniques and ideas influenced by the music of Bob Brookmeyer, Bob Pilkington and Bela Bartok, to name a few. I am also a member of the Nova-Composers Association which is an up and coming organization interested in the creation and promotion of new music as well as organizing concerts and events in the United States and abroad.
