Dr. Elton J. Crim Jr. Clinical Professor of Higher Education, and Director of the Higher Ed MS program. Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis @ the University of Wisconsin Madison. I’m also Husband and Father of two adult children. I host a Jazz radio show called journeys into jazz at WORT 89.8 fm Madison WI. It’s community radio. Wed. Afternoon 2-5 pm central time. My show is the 2nd and 4th wed of the month. In addition to those pursuits, I sell high end audio gear @University audio, and I’m a long time audio enthusiast.

My Jazz Story

I love jazz because...it captures the moods and tonal colors of life. I was first exposed to jazz...in 1980 in college. I saw the great Dizzy Gillespie. I met [musician name]...Ben Sidran, Gregory Porter, Branford Marsalis, Wynton Marsalis, Members of the Yellowjackets including Bob Mintzer. The best show I ever attended was..Gregory Porter here in Madison. His voice filled the venue like a God. The first jazz record I bought was...spirogyra Morning Dance My advice to new listeners...smart with what’s accessible to you from an emotional, mood perspective, then go to see some live jazz then get deeper into more difficult to appreciate or understand forms of jazz. Or whatever else you have in mind.
