About Me
Visual designer and artist with a keen interest in modern jazz
I discovered jazz briefly when I was young, but then returned decades later by stumbling onto an album with a cover that I liked in Périgueux, France. It was Anouar Brahem's Conte de l'Incroyable Amour, and it commenced my obsession with the ECM sound, and later the wider world of modern jazz. I fell hard for artists that sublimely embodied the atmosphere, the deep emotion and the spellbinding skill of the best jazz. These days I particularly enjoy post-minimalism in jazz (e.g. Ronin Rhythm Records), folks explorations in jazz (Frode Haltli, Brighde Chaimbeul), new and exciting combinations (Fergus McCreadie); the British jazz scene (Mammal Hands, Ill Considered); but I've still got an abiding soft spot for ACT Records, ECM Records, cool jazz, and modal jazz.
