Carmela Ramirez

I live and breath Latin Jazz. Ever since I was a young child listening to my Dad's shortwave radio that picked up radio stations across the U.S., I fell in love with Big Band, Jazz, all the Jazz Vocalists that just rocked my world. Then one day my Dad picked up a signal from San Francisco. It was a Latin Jazz radio station spinning insane Afro-Cuban-Latin Jazz. I was hooked. I started performing in my 20's singing R&B, Soul, Funk and Fusion crossover to Jazz. But I always wanted to sing and pay tribute to this most amazing music, this Latin fusion, this awesome mix of Jazz and Afro-Cuban. It burned at me. I finally started my own own Latin Jazz and Salsa band. "Carmela y Más", a nine piece electrifying band that has now been together over 30 years. We thrive in Phoenix Arizona. We are performance, concert and music education driven. I am lucky to have shared my music from Arizona to Japan. And, I plan to perform this music until I can longer crawl on a stage!
