Anibal Rojas, who was originality a John Coltrane-inspired tenor saxophonist, is a
saxophonist with indigenous roots in a modern world. His is the music
of the immigrant, the sound of integration and assimilation, the blending of cultures,
classes, and musical traditions. On his debut CD Ah Knee Ball, he incorporates Chilean
folk song structures, using modern and ethnic instruments. His music is hauting,
unpredictable, melodic, and beyond simple categorization. Its is consistently intriguing
and inventive. The release of his debut CD on Ucamdo Records was met with rave reviews.
He is currently writing and recording his follow-up offering.
