About the Album

This energetic reinvention of the timeless Stephen Foster song is the fifth cut on the new CD by the Pete McGuinness Jazz Orchestra - “Strength In Numbers”, released on April 8th, 2014 on the Summit Records label. Its was originally created by a commission for the Westchester Jazz Orchestra, which has generously given permission for the arrangement to be recorded here. Solos are by from the well-known NYC jazz artists Dave Pietro (soprano sax) and Mike Holober (piano).

The Pete McGuinness Jazz Orchestra is:

Pete McGuinness: composer/arranger, vocals, trombone, leader;

Dave Pietro: alto sax 1, soprano sax, flute;

Marc Phaneuf: alto sax 2, flute;

Tom Christensen: tenor sax 1, flute;

Jason Rigby: tenor sax 2, soprano sax, clarinet;

Dave Reikenberg: bari sax, bass clarinet;

Bruce Eidem: lead trombone;

Mark Patterson: trombone;

Matt Haviland: trombone;

Jeff Nelson: bass trombone;

Jon Owens: lead trumpet;

Tony Kadlek: lead trumpet;

Bill Mobley: trumpet;

Chris Rogers: trumpet;

Mike Holober: piano;
