Big Joe Maher claims Louis Jordan as his main influence, but Maher's style is more reminiscent of my favorite blues singer of all time, Big Joe Turner. Like the original Big Joe, this Big Joe covers tunes that rock and swing simultaneously. Moreover, the Dynaflows are far more capable than most of the younger, more popular swing bands. I'm Still Swingin' has a New Orleans flavor as four of these 14 tunes were written by David Bartholomew. With a great bluesy horn section led by Mark "Kaz" Kazanoff, pumping piano played by Kevin McKendree, and a raucous rhythm section anchored by Big Joe on the skins, the Dynaflows swing out in fine style.
