About Me

I'm an amateur jazz historian and saxophonist with a 20+ years of producing jazz radio programming.

My one hour jazz shows are all thematic, exploring aspects of jazz history and music. I'm often asked which era or genre I'm most interested in, but I love bebop, swing, 50s cool, hard bop as well current performers, but you won't hear much free jazz or fusion on shows. I have an extensive catalogue of shows available on MixCloud. In depth surveys of some of the music's major artists ( Mingus, Carla Bley, Quincy Jones, Sonny Rollins, Django, Billy Strayhorn ) Surveys of some of the most important jazz labels ( Riverside, Blue Note, Commodore, the first independent label), Mosaic Music from important composer and source material ( Ellington, Leonard Bernstein, Italian film composers, Irving Berlin, Hoagy Carmichael, Jerome Kern, Cole Porter )
