About Me

I am a music journalist who has been published on HifiPig.com, GoldenPlec.com and Nitelife.ie, among other places. I can be found where the music is.

My Jazz Story

I love jazz because of its emotive intelligence. I was first exposed to jazz through a reasonably priced vinyl copy of Kind Of Blue. The first jazz record I bought was the aforementioned Miles Davis' 'Kind Of Blue.' Followed swiftly by albums by Ornette Coleman, Charles Mingus, John Coltrane, and Sun Ra. My advice to new listeners is keep digging until you find the jazz style/artist/record that gets your hairs a-standing. There's something for everyone. You just have to dig...

My Favorites

  1. Ornette Coleman - The Shape Of Jazz To Come
  2. Miles Davis - Bitches Brew
  3. Sun Ra - Space Is The Place
  4. Captain Beefheart - Trout Mask Replica
