The music I like best is the one that cannot be reduced to a specific genre - La musica che preferisco è quella che non si può ridurre in categorie

About Me

I was born in central-north Italy just in time to grow up in the fabulous Sixties (and be a teenager starting from 1970). I realized for the first time that music can be more than pop and beat that ruled in those years by watching a TV performance from Vanilla Fudge at 1969 International Pop Music Show in Venice, surprisingly won by the group playing 'Some Velvet Morning', a psychedelic rock song over 9 minutes long. As a result of this particular imprinting, the so called progressive rock will shape my musical taste ever since, making me discover Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Frank Zappa, Soft Machine, Amon Duul, Henry Cow and all Canterbury groups shortly after. I got into jazz via British jazz from Mike Westbrook, Keith Tippett, John Surman, Alan Skidmore, Michael Gibbs before getting exposed to the music of the five masters (Davis, Coltrane, Mingus, Monk, Evans). I witnessed with reverence, admiration and endless love the growth and development of ECM in the early 70's. Last (but not least) of my strongest musical passions, unreturned, is the one for guitar music in almost all of its forms, especially acoustic. I am currently resident of Rome, where I moved in the early 80's. My job for 30+ years has been dealing with black, round, plastic molded objects with a hole in the center and grooves on their surface, but unfortunately it was only vehicle tires. I've been collaborating with AAJ Italy since its start in 2001, occasionally writing articles and reviews for italian music magazines 'Chitarre' and 'Jazzit'.
