Chicago is world renowned for it’s unique flavor of Jazz, dating back nearly a century ago when cities were still roaring, cognac was rich, and excitement came with a cigar.
Modern Chicago is currently in a Jazz revival with fresh and young faces on the scene. Zach Brock, a violinist, has definitely found his calling in the world of Jazz. Zach plays on a weekly basis in clubs and restaurants, setting a peaceful yet romantic mood for his audience to draw out the sweet emotions in life.
Inspiration seems to come naturally for Mr. Brock, being well-respected by important figures and critics in the area of Jazz music. Larry Smith of WBEZ thinks that Zach is “the most exciting young Jazz violin player in Chicago”, while Jerome Wilson of Cadence Magazine feels that Zach explodes with furious fiddling in the manner of the late Don Sugarcane" Harris...".
Born in Lexington, Kentucky, in 1974, Zach Brock was introduced to music at an early age by his parents. He left Lexington in 1992 to pursue his musical training in Chicago. Not long after leaving Lexington, Zach was studying and playing with critically-acclaimed Chicago trumpeter Orbert Davis. He had the distinct honor of appearing with Mr. Davis at the 1997 IAJE International Convention as a guest artist/clinician.
Since arriving in Chicago, Zach has performed with such notable musicians as Von Freeman, Johnny Frigo, Willie Pickens, Orbert Davis, Kurt Elling, Jim Trompeter, Ron Perillo, Patricia Barber, Jim Cammack, Michael Arnapol, Larry Gray, John McLean, Kelly Sill, Marlene Rosenberg, Jim Ryan, Bobby Lewis, Mwata Bowden, Ari Brown, Jeff Stitely, Ron Blake and Dave Kikoski.
Zach proves that the Jazz flavor is still quite apparent throughout Chicago. He recently has launched a new, more intense and dramatic site, built by Web agents VersusMedia (www.versusmedia.com). Zach’s new site offers full-length audio tracks, live video recordings from past concert sets, a full length biography, discography, future shows, CD store, and much much more.
Check out the new site (http://www.zachbrock.com), join his mailing list, and see a show the next time you visit Chicago. Zach is currently looking for show dates outside Chicago. To setup a Zach Brock concert, contact his booking agent.
