Yuliesky Gonzalez

Yuliesky González (El Yuli)

Cuban trumpet player, grew up surrounded by music. Born into a musician family in
Camagüey, the young trumpet player stubbornly followed the footsteps of his father,
grandfather and uncle. 

His professional experience took off at his 12 years while he simultaneously study at the music schools in his hometown. He formed part of the Cesar Alberti & Danzonera Avileña and some years later he formed part of the Synphonic Orchestra of Camagüey and others professional local bands. At this time became interested in improvisation, both in Cuban Traditional music as well as in some Jazz styles.  

He continued to do his obligatory military service in Havana, two years as member of the
MININT music band. Here begins his interest in composition for various formats, especially
for brass quintets and big formats up to 25 band members.

Well established in Havana, he start working as Lead trumpet, improvisations and studio
recording for several artists. Performing in festivals with some of Cuba ́s greatest stars (El
Sonero Feliz Valoy, El Maestro Changuito, El Bury y Omara Portuondo, Manolito Simonet
y su Trabuco, Son del Nene, Pupy y Los Que Son Son, Alexander Abreu & Habana d’
Primera, entre muchos otros)

Performing in television, radio programs and documentaries. Soon after, started his
international career touring around Europe, Mid-East and Latin America.

Since April 2010 he embarks on his solo career, thus forming his own projects where you
can find authentic lines, innovative and fresh compositions:
