Txako Jones

I started singing out of mere curiosity and attraction, inspired by the music which I listened to at that time (I still listen to that kind of music). At the age of 16 I started singing with a heavy metal band with roots in the Nazarenes “Sacro”. Shortly after that, I joined a blues band called “ La Rayband”, singing with them for nearly two years. Since then, and for 13 years, I have combined the work in dance bands with activities in soul, funk, jazz, blues, rock and heavy bands.

My first contact with the jazz scene was Antonio Garcia, a wellknown guitarist at the Sevillian jazz scene. Together, we formed the duet “McCloud & Jones”. The duet played at different hotels and in many of the well known pubs and concert halls of the Sevillian jazz scene.

After the duet broke up, I went on with the jazz, singing with musicians such as Diego Ruiz, Pepe Frias, Manolo Torres, Aquiles del Campo, Felix Roquero, Miguelo Delgado, Álvaro Gandul, Javier Galisteo, Dani Galiano or Vicky Luna.

My musical experiences include as well recordings as lead or back vocal in collaboration with bands such as “Jarto de Tó” , “Guarida”, “Andabluses”, and “Saurom”.

As I got known at the Sevillan heavy and rock scene, the famous band “Storm” asked me to be their singer along with their leader, Ángel Ruiz. My time in “Storm” was not long, due to the breaking up of the band.

Shortly after, I became a member of the blues band “Blues de Bellota”, performing with them for two years. With “Blues de Bellota” I performed all over Spain, singing at blues festivals such as “Festival Internacional de Blues de Cazorla” (Cazorla International Bluesfest), “Festival Internacional de Blues de Nou Barris”, “Festival Internacional Rock and River” in Puente Genil, the Jazz Festival in Punta Umbria and nearly one hundred live shows in concert rooms and pubs. For more information, please go to www.myspace.com/bluesdebellota (New concerts ahead!)

Furthermore I have collaborated with musicians or bands such as Lolo Ortega, Melo, Javian, Virginia Maestro, Sistema, Guarida, Katie King, O’Funkillo, Travellin’ Band, Dark Crown, Storm, Saurom, Andabluses, Evassion, Attack plus an endless list of good friends and musicians.

After having moved to London - I am working on several projects, of which I can highlight my collaboration with the famous British guitarist Tony Rémy. (See web for further details about next tour http://www.myspace.com/mancotonyremy)

Currently, I am studying Vocals at the London Centre of Contemporary Music.
