The Strike

The Strike is a 5 member independent band based in Los Angeles, CA. Formed in 2013, the band is headed by front man Chris Crabb and supported by Alex Palazzo, David Maemone - Keys, Frank Ojeda-bass, and Jay Tibbitts-drums.

The Strike released their debut album "Faint of Heart" in June of 2017, which was met with great enthusiasm nationally. The success of the record allowed them to expand their presence into Los Angeles and the greater Mountain West region and has put them on the radar as one of the up and coming bands to watch for.

On August 17th 2018, their song “Human Right” from the album was featured in Netflix’s original movie “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before.” In less than one month, the song was streamed over 1 million times on Spotify alone, and well over a million times across all platforms. It was “Shazamed” over 20k times in the month following the release of the movie. Among those who saved Human Right to their library, it is listened to at an average of 10+ times. It was featured on Spotify’s New Alt Playlist (700k+ subscribers), as well as the US Viral Top 50 Chart.

In the summer of 2017, they were selected to play at the 27th annual Qingdao Beer Festival in China where they performed to thousands of festival goers for a month and a half. Their music is now being circulated across Asia.

In early 2018 The Strike was hand selected by Quincy Jones to play a three month residency at Q's Bar and Lounge in Dubai. There they were able to win over fans from all over the globe. They played 60 shows in 82 days while in the UAE.

The Strike is known for their captivating live performances. In an age of musical minimalism, The Strike is reminiscent of rock bands from the 70's and 80's. They feature true showmanship in an age where the art of performance has been forgotten. Chris Crabb's vocal style is akin to rock vocalists such as Lou Gramm, or Steve Perry. The band members are all students at their craft. Those attend Strike shows become instant fans.

Their music is a modern exploration of the many ...

Top Musicians Threaten Strike over EMI Sale to UMG

Source: HypeBot

With all the reporting and coverage of the completed $1.9 billion acquisition of EMI by Universal Music Group, one very important voice has been (unsurprisingly) left out of the conversation entirely: the artists themselves. Some of the world's greatest musicians are now considering withholding any new albums as an act of protest, unhappy they are being treated as “assets" in the forced sale of their label. Leading the revolt is English alternative rock band Blur against the sell-off of Parlophone ...

Another Strike Against 'Copyleft': Senate Judiciary Passes Hard-Hitting S.3804...

Source: Digital Music News

A very forceful S.3804 is moving right along, thanks to a unanimous approval by the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday. In short, the bill—known as the Combating Online Infringement and Counterfeits Act, or COICA - gives the Department of Justice the ability to shut down infringing sites, among other enforcement powers. It has also been part of a rhetorical battle against the 'copyleft,' and UMGD chief Jim Urie has been rallying industry support around the initiative.

Well, looks like those ...

The music may keep playing at the Morse Theatre.

An agreement in principle has been struck between the firm that has operated the refurbished Morse since October and the owners of the building.

The two parties fell into a dispute last month over operation of the facility, which opened in October to critical acclaim, after a multimillion-dollar restoration. The theater's operators— Rogers Park Entertainment Ventures Inc.—said last month that the theater might be shuttered.

Instead, 86th Ohio LLC—a corporation based ...

BREAKING NEWS

The Screen Actors Guild has postponed the strike authorized by the guilds board of directors last month. The mailing of ballots to the members was about to be sent January 2, 2009.

Securing such a vote in the current climate could be difficult for SAG. The referendum would require 75% approval from members who vote in order to pass. Although union members typically grant strike authorizations to leaders in negotiations, that could be a difficult threshold to meet ...

Jazz! Strike up the Bland

The sax player and the Brazilian chamber group explore the works of Darius Milhaud and Heitor Villa-Lobos in an uneven performance at Royce Hall.

Make a poet a diplomat and good may come of it. France sent the great humanist writer Paul Claudel to Brazil during World War I, and food found its way from South America to France during a period of privation. So too did Brazilian music, once the war was won.

Make a composer a diplomat and ...
