Steve Traylor

Steve Traylor (bass trombone, tuba, & trombone), in addition to his vigorous schedule as a free-lance musician, is the Director of Bands and Fine Arts Recruiter of Central Wyoming College in Riverton, Wyoming. Steve’s educational background includes a Masters in Bass Trombone Performance from the University of Denver (Denver, Colorado), Masters in Business Administration from the University of Denver (Denver, Colorado), and a Bachelor of Music Education from Emporia State University (Emporia, Kansas).

As a free-lance musician, he has performed with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, Colorado Ballet, Central City Opera, Colorado Music Festival Orchestra, and Denver Municipal Band in addition to the jazz groups Fat City Mardi Gras Band, Neophonic Jazz Orchestra, Queen City Jazz Band, and Dixieland Express. Additional groups he performs with regularly include Heartbeat and Tina Marx & the Millionaires.

Some recording artists Steve has performed with include Andrea Bocelli, Mel Torme, Frankie Valli, Four Tops, The Drifters, Kenny Rogers, Bob Hope, Steve Allen, Harry Connick, Dianne Reeves, James Moody, and Clark Terry. Highlighted by the Wyoming Arts Council, Steve tours as a solo classical bass trombonist and as the leader of the Fat City Mardi Gras Band. In addition, Steve has been featured as a guest conductor and/or clinician focused on jazz, jazz pedagogy, wind music, low brass performance, and the music business throughout the Rocky Mountain region.
