William Friedson

I've been playing jazz and improvizing for over twenty years. My Jazz studies really got started in New York (in the 90's) with teachers like Mike Longo, Barry Harris, and Hilton Ruiz. I've played in clubs and Hotels from New York to Mexico City and Brazil. This was my basis for my jazz compositions (as it is for most jazz composers). I mostly did duo and trio work with bass players like Bijoux Barbosa and Dirk Dikson. Original tunes have been recorded such as Small Town Blues( Martinworks Label), and the one you are listening to "I've Loved but Not Like This". I also compose sambas, "out" pieces, and arrangements for larger groups. Presently I'm composing a children's music theater piece with some jazz pieces built into the overall score.
