horanVi

The doors are open...'Before It Lasted' out February 14th, for all the romantics???? horanVi began life as a passion project between guitarist & producer Sam Horan and vocalist ‘Violet’. The pair met in Leeds and formed part of Jazz/ Neo Soul/ Dub collective Kalyan. When the pandemic struck the band split, but the synergy between them endured and over the last few years they exchanged ideas across the English Channel and the seeds were sown. Now both back on home soil in the UK, the newly fledged writing duo will be releasing new tunes throughout this year from their forthcoming album - written, produced and mixed by Sam from his home studio in London, which occasionally features fellow Jazz musicians along the way. It's an ambitious undertaking of eclectic compositions which refuses to toe the line between modern Jazz trends, Rock, Alt Indie & Neo Soul. Although Jazz quietly underpins the music and often informs the harmonic approach, much of the album lends itself to the more progressive side of Pop. Unconventional structures, cinematic elements and instrumental sections abound, and the songs never stray too far from the Blues which permeates Violets sweet but raw edged and visceral vocals. Improvisation, dynamic delicate and earthy textures, soaring melodies… horanVi aim to tap into the work of artists as varied as Snowpoet, Peter Gabriel, Hiatus Kaiyote, Pat Metheny, Erykah Badu, Lauryn Hill, Elbow, Radiohead, Wilco, and Khruangbin to name a few.
