Jill Melanie Wirth

Jill Melanie Wirth is an actress, singer and writer. She has an extensive repertoire from The Great American Songbook. Jill has created a theatrical concert “This is For You Daisy Ellington” which is a tribute to Duke Ellington's mother and his great music.

Jill has performed in theatre, film, television, concert, commercials, and voice- overs in NY, Chicago, L.A., and London. She has appeared in theatre and music productions at such pretigious venues as Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, BAM Next Wave Festival, Vineyard Theatre, La Mama, AMAS, The York Theatre, and Westport Country Playhouse. She has also appeared at The 92nd Street Y as a solosit in the Meet the Virtuoso series. Jill has appeared regularly as a vocalist at Marjorie Eliot's Parlor Jazz Entertainment in Harlem. She has an extensive repertoire of The Great American Songbook.

Jill Melanie Wirth has worked under the direction of such theatre legends as Patricia Birch, Tom O’Horgan, Joseph Chaikin, John Vaccaro, and André DeShields. Jill Melanie Wirth worked in the development process of such musicals as Stephen Schwartz' Children of Eden, and Doug Katsaros' Valadon and Orphan Train; as well as Artie Shaw's Dreamweavers (directed by Jamibeth Margolis). On TV Jill Melanie Wirth starred opposite Mandy Patinkin in NBC's television special "Sureness of the Morning" as well as in countless commercials and voice-overs. Other TV work includes Law & Order, One Life to Live, and Guiding Light.

As a writer/performer, Jill Melanie Wirth and David Wirth have created "dramedies" that examine end-of-life issues, historical topics, and sexual matters. These pieces have been commissioned for Off-Broadway, Women's History Month, and Black History Month productions. They have been featured in One-Act Festivals and presented as "curtain raisers" for longer works, and have been performed at the Morris-Jumel Mansion, for school groups, and at the New York Public Library. Recent titles include: Long Term Care; Life Support; Rufus to the Rescue; Robeson at Peekskill; This is for You Daisy Ellington; The Fanny Kemble Story; Indian Love Call, SEX SELLS!, PC Pull-Ups, Sex Ed, Boston on Business, and Welcome to Playland!

Jill Melanie Wirth (formerly Jill Kotler) is originally from Chicago where she studied with Dr. Bella Itkin at The Goodman School of Drama, Bud Beyer of Northwestern University, and John Malkovich at Steppenwolf Theatre. She began her career in Chicago Theatre in productions at Hull House, The Body Politic, with The Chicago Stategy Theatre Company and with The Halcyon Commedia Dell Arte Repertory Company. She studies ACTING WITH PASSION with Niki Flacks and INNER VOICE with David Friedman. She is a member of EQUITY and SAG/AFTRA.
