Pi

"Pi”, the band with a transcendent constant used for its name, is a project about the musical and mathematical structure of "cosmos" that arises within each member of the band and is formed into fusion of various musical characters in the search for harmony of spheres, harmony of the world. Quite ironically the musicians call themselves as “musical community number Pi", leaving the determination open and not strictly fixed.

Their music is artfully and deliberately saturated with allegories and metaphors. Original pieces and arrangements, created with respect to the traditions of jazz and classics, use all possible modern means of expression. The permanent attempts to go beyond the well-known techniques of the musical language are visibly successful in this art.

One of the residents of Moscow's Kozlov club, Pi also has an impressive history of touring and participation in festivals. In 2018 they released the video inspired by Shostakovich’s “Prelude No.1 in C”, followed by 2019’s album called “A Love…”

The current line-up of the band includes musicians who are well-known for assorted jazz, rock and pop Russian formations, some of them of international scale: Boris Ionov (drums), Dmitry Fomin (bass guitar), Salman Abuev (trumpet), Roman Sokolov (flute, sax, bass clarinet), Alexey Polubabkin (guitar), Albert Fokin (keyboards), Veronika Lileeva (Shramko) (vocals), Odei Al-Magut (trombone).
