Karen Michelle Bellamy
I love ❤️ to smile and seeing happiness in others. Morals and virtues are important to me. My 1st love is my creator and I thank him for the talent he has granted me. I am a grandchild of a minister, Evangelist Bernice Bellamy. She put me through music school to keep me off the streets of Newark, NJ. I guess that's where my strong passion for creating music evolved. I began studying at an early age. I studied pianoforte and theory at the Newark Community School of the Arts which is now the NJ School of Arts. In high school I played the saxophone at Vailsburg High School under the tutelage of jazz musician extraordinaire Bradford Hayes. I think that is when my passion for music grew stronger. Mr. Hayes had encouraged me to go to Julliard School of Music in New York but I wound up going to Montclair State University. There I continued to study music although that was not my major. I chose Psychology and General Humanities. My favorite genre of music is gospel and jazz. Especially, old jazz and blues. During my early adulthood I moved to New York City (Harlem) where I met my mentor William Harris who is still my advisor and great friend. Meeting Bill began my true path as a musician. He saw something in me that I did not see myself. He shaped me into the artist I am today. Upon meeting Bill he introduced me to his partners who are phenomenal musicians; they are Towald aka 'Speedy' Graves and Marlon Graves who has produced music with the legendary Herbie Hancock. As of today their little grasshopper began to jump and I am ready to leap into uncharted waters finding soil full of green acres hoping to land where the grass will become greener and my music will have an impact on the world. Last but not least I must reiterate my thanks to the Most High and my thanks to my supporters.
