Julie Holtzman
Growing up in Montreal as a teenager Julie led a double life. In winter she was a "long (red) haired" pianist being pruned for Juilliard. Her summer alter-ego was a torch singer named JULIE HEATHERS. It was during these years that she developed a deep feeling for the blues and a passion for jazz.
In addition to the standard song repertory of Gershwin, Arlen, Porter, Rodgers and Hart, Berlin, Carmichael, Kern, Ellington, etc, she loves to uncover obscure gems such as Duke's "Creole Blues," "All too Soon," "The Blues," "I Like the Sunrise" and "Morning Glory," Billie Holiday's "Somebody's On My Mind" and "Please Don't Do It In Here" ; Mary Lou Williams's "The Blues" and "My Momma Pinned a Rose on Me"; McPartland's "Twilight World" and "In The Days Of Our Love".
