Jack Ta is a highly spirited jazz pianist, arranger, and bandleader who has already made a significant mark in jazz at 17. He has garnered recognition as both a leader and sideman at festivals and competitions in New Zealand and Vietnam, which is a testament to his skill and dedication.

Throughout his development, Jack has the honor of sharing the stage with some of the most renowned musicians in the national jazz scene, including Umar Zakaria, Rodger Fox, Abe Baillie, William Kao, Nick Cornish, Nguyen Le, Tri Pham, Carl Woodward, and many others. His collaborations with these high-profile figures have proven his ability and talent. Jack has been recognized nationally and internationally for his outstanding achievements. This includes his recent win at the New Zealand Jazz Improvisation Competition and multiple awards for Best Performance on Piano, Best Improvised Solo, Best Performance on Saxophone, and Best Arrangement at numerous music festivals throughout the years. In 2014, Jack was awarded Gold at the Asia Pacific Arts Festival.

Jack's musical influences reveal a deep connection to the bebop tradition, drawing inspiration from jazz legends like Barry Harris, Wynton Kelly, Oscar Peterson, Bud Powell, McCoy Tyner, Geoffrey Keezer, and Benny Green. As an arranger, Jack embraces the artistry of modern-day arrangers such as Sammy Nestico, Thad Jones, Nelson Riddle, Steven Feifke, and Charlie Rosen.
