Edu Puperi

From 1986 to 1991 he studied music at CLAM, a school directed by Zimbo Trio in São Paulo, with teachers Fernando Corrêa and Conrado Paulino. He graduated in composition and directing in 1993 from FAAM (University of Music and Arts Alcântara Machado).

In 1994 he formed the “Ludi & Tiné Quartet” with guitarrist Paulo Tiné, a Brazilian instrumental group that lasted until 1999 and released an album called “Vento Leste” in 1997.

He was musical director at Cultura Inglesa in São Paulo from 1996 to 2000, where he directed the musicals “Guys and Dolls”, “Bye Bye Birdie”, “Hair”, “All that Jazz” and “Fame”, respectively.

He directed the big bands “FAAM Jazz Band” (1991 to 1993), ”Orquestralha” (2001 to 2003) and “Swinging Sounds” (1997 to 2004).

In 2001 he formed a Brazilian popular music group called “Aura Tropical”, releasing a CD at the same name in 2003. In 2004 two songs from this CD were released in Italy as part of the “Aruanã” CD, a project from the ”Amigos da Orquestra do Mundo”.

In 2001 he received an invitation from Luiz Chaves, ex-Zimbo Trio's bassist, to teach piano, guitar and performing practice in “Casa de Música Luiz Chaves”. He is a teacher there to this day.

2005 brought the formation of “Edu Puperi Trio”. The group became a quartet in 2007. The group features:

Luis Passos - Bass Humberto Zigler - Drums Chiquinho de Almeida - Tenor and Soprano Saxophones and Flute

With the quartet he recorded the”Bossa Livre” CD, a 2008 release.
