In 1992, Mr. Gottesman was selected by a nationwide audition for the Walt Disney World All-American College Show Band, an 8-piece ensemble that performed daily shows with the Disney Characters and The Best of Disney dancers, as well as weekly concerts with guest artists including Arturo Sandoval, Red Rodney, Marvin Stamm, Bob Mintzer, Tom Scott, Pete Christlieb, and Jiggs Whigham. Mr. Gottesman was asked to return in 1993 as the leader of the ensemble. Although he maintains an active career as a trumpet player, Mr. Gottesman shares his love of music as an educator. Since 1995, Mr. Gottesman has been the Director of Instrumental Music at Springfield Township High School in Erdenheim, Pennsylvania.
In 2005, Mr. Gottesman completed his Master of Music at Rowan University in Glassboro, New Jersey. As a graduate student in the Maynard Ferguson Institute of Jazz Studies, Mr. Gottesman studied trumpet with the great George Rabbai and arranging and composition with revered educator Denis DiBlasio. In January 2006, Mr. Gottesman released a CD entitled “My Hard Luck Story (and other tales of woe)” with Dreambox Media, Philadelphia’s premiere jazz label. The disc is a collection of 12 original compositions and arrangements that Mr. Gottesman put together while completing his Master’s at Rowan.
