Christopher Johnson

Hard swinging and funky Hard Bop Jazz, Jazz-Funk classics, (Herbie Hancock, Donald Byrd, George Duke, Grover Washington Jr.,) and funky Neo-Bop / Post-Bop Jazz, is the majority of my substantial music collection, that I always practice to, in between my busy session work schedule.

Lately I've been getting my Kick drum workouts, sycopation, and ghost-note technique together, listening and playing to modern versions of Jazz-Funk, & funky Post-Bop Jazz, by my 3 idols: Russell Gunn, Roy Hargrove, (R.I.P.) & Robert Glasper, and also to plenty of my favorite Neo Soul artists.  

I'd like to continue hitting up the great studios of southern Westchester County and Manhattan, with, a small combo, talented vocalits & M.C.'s, to eventually, create our own gigging Jazz-Funk, Hip Hop Jazz & Neo soul band.
