Based in Carrollton Texas, drummer Christian Dorn plays with the NHB Big Band, MLB Big Band the Blue Vibe Jazz Quartet and many other funk and jazz bands. He has also played in Epic Productions "Cinderella" and "Grease". Besides playing, Christian has studied under the master tutelage of Henry Okstel, Ellis Hampton and Julie Licata. Christian is also studying concert percussion and marimba/vibraphone playing.

I have been playing drums for over 8 years and I gig regularly with many jazz and funk bands around town. Currently I am playing with the Blue Vibe Jazz combo, NHB Big Band and MLB Big Band. I offer private lessons at my house and yours. If lessons are taken at my house students will be playing on a Yamaha Maple Custom drum set with custom sabian cymbals and Iron Cobra Pedals. I also have a Dr.Beat metronome and plenty of books covering Jazz, Rock, Latin, Country and big band styles for drum set. In lessons, I emphasize having fun and really learning how to enjoy playing the drums in a musical way. That being said, I think it is also very important for kids to have a strong background in reading, technique, rudiments and drum set styles. All of which I am very comfortable teaching. Most of my students are in the beginner to intermediate category.
