Alex Wilcox
Spawned in 1993 from the plastic suburb of Plano, Texas comes Alex Wilcox. Since 2004 he’s blended Catholic hymns, Frusciante arpeggios, Hendrix feedback, Aphex programming, and Texan writ.
2004 guitar lessons began - John Frusciante, Tom Morello, Jimi Hendrix. Bands came later. Played at local bars and clubs in Dallas. His band, Toro Vega, extremely talented teenagers, ripped blues & funk-distortion against a wall of emo bands. Trouble at home, the death of his older brother, and a cancerous non-disclosed-human-affair led to his human spirit that followed him from to Austin.
Standing at 302 feel-tall the Texas State Capital glared down at Alex’s new home. There for University, Alex struggled with severe depression. Vainly burying musical pursuits. Identity attempting disintegration. Strong dorm-room THC edibles broke the firmware update. After enough sadness, Alex pushed back into music world, setting up microphones and studying mixing at Orb Recordings Studios, Austin.
Introduced to Ableton, began started surrounding his guitar-playing with electronics. Playing in the sandbox. Substituting guitar lines for synth lines, eventually being exposed to Paul Kalkbrenner, Modeselektor, Trentemoller, Berlin Techno Clubs. Unlike live music, which low self-esteem tarnished, Clubs soared. This spotless avenue encouraged Alex to grow into techno.
He moved to LA, set up microphones for Tyler, the Creator, bought Future chicken parmesan, gave MikeWillMadeIt crazy straws, cleaned up after Pharrell, and quit after a month of interning at Chalice Music Studios in Hollywood.
Living in a shitty windowless hotbox music studio in view of the Scientology Center at Hollywood Boulevard and Ivar, Alex was mercilessly producing hours and hours and hours and hours and hours and hours of music. He mailed labels his music in Matryoshka dolls - sending one to Bpitch Control in 2018. “I don’t think BPitch is the right label for such a release as Ellen is not into that type of more new school minimal techno.”
He felt out of touch with the LA scene. Not finding his people. Time to move to Berlin. But first Detroit a 6-month pit stopped turned two years. Began producing at UR Headquarters, getting to meet Mike Banks and was told to keep productions dry. Began DJ’ing around the city. With severe doubts, tried ghost production. Felt terrible. Threatened to sue Coachella-playing artist not to re-release ghost production. Stopped ghost-production.
Toured 30+ countries and counting. Increasingly disillusioned with the DJ scenes lack of musical artistry, Alex - leaned into his punk influences. Dropped Punk-Rock Techno album on Bpitch Control, and made radical, extreme, EP’s with digital hardcore BBBBBBB (NAGOYA) and rap/techno/punk duo-HYPNOSIS THERAPY (SEOUL). June 12, 2026: launching party series for electronic punk music: ACT!ON.
