My jazz journey began in 2007 when I met Oscar Penas, who introduced me to concerts, late-night jazz discussions, documentaries, musicians' friends and acquaintances, listening sessions, jazz venues, and many jazz enthusiasts. His deep knowledge of jazz and vivid descriptions made me fall in love with its history, tradition, and community. In 2011, Esperanza Spalding invited me to join her team; I was captivated watching her perform and sing with her unmatched talent—she's truly remarkable. I feel fortunate to be part of the music world. Cecil Taylor also joined our jazz conversations with Penas; we spent many nights talking and listening to him, watching him shed light through his music. Cecil was a frequent presence at Oscar's concerts, strengthening my connection to jazz and its stories of struggle and triumph. Music is essential in my life, and I love it despite the profession's challenges. I also collaborate with promoters from Spain and Italy, producing performances at New York venues—large and small. I prefer to be backstage rather than in the spotlight.
