My Jazz Story

As a college freshman, David Lee Brehm landed an audition to become the guitarist for the Southwestern University Jazz Band. He was awarded the guitar chair and soon after was hired to be a band leader for one of the performance bands at Sea World of Texas in San Antonio. In his Junior year, David transferred to the University of North Texas in Denton to pursue jazz studies. After graduation from UNT, David moved to Dallas to form his own instrumental Jazz band (The B-Side Trio). After the trio's third show, they were asked to play a formal wedding gig with the caveat being he brought along a singer...enter Stephanie Young (who ultimately became Stephanie Brehm) and THE BREHMS band was formed. As a child, Stephanie Young grew to love jazz thanks to her Mother Betty Young (stage name Tobey Castle) who was a professional singer with the Tommy Dorsey band back in the day. Betty sang to Stephanie all the time as a little girl, but it never occurred to Stephanie to pursue it professionally until she met her future husband David Brehm. David encouraged her to join him as a co-songwriter and together David and Stephanie have written original material for three albums and an EP. Check out THE BREHMS on all major streaming platforms and also on their website: TheBrehmsBand.com David and Stephanie's music can also be found on THE BREHMS YouTube channel and Instagram profile. Side note: David L. (Lee) Brehm and Stephanie (Young) Brehm have also accomplished quite a bit in the animation/anime world, and for further info, you should check out their respective IMDB pages. You will see things like Jimmy Neutron, One Piece, Full Metal Alchemist, etc.
