SIMON WYRSCH



Born 1983 in Zürich, Switzerland.

While still a teenager he played gigs with small groups to big bands, in theaters and was already working as a music teacher, before he studied at the Zurich University of Arts to receive his Masters of Music Education

He had the chance to attend masterclasses with such renowned artists as Billy Taylor, Lewis Nash, Cedar Walton, Curtis Fuller, Kenny Drew jr., Eddie Daniels, Dave Liebman, just to name a few.

Festivalppearences include Zurich Youth Big Band Festivals, 31. International Jazzfestival Bern, International Jazzmeeting Frauenfeld, Berks Jazz Festival, Avignon Jazz Festival, Jazzfestival Fribourg, among others

Simon already played at famous venues like:

MILLENIUM STAGE AT KENNEDY CENTER KC JAZZ CLUB THE GRAND OPERA HOUSE IN WILMINGTON DE SMALLS CLEOPATRA`S NEEDLE 55 BAR IGHUANA KKL Luzern Tonhalle Zürich Moods

Beside playing jazz, and classical music with orchestra, he is also busy as a contractor for filmmusic, organizing and playing studiosessions. His credits as a clarinetist and contractor counts about 10 films, which include shortfilms, commercials and moviesoundtracks

As a contractor he is working for the University of the Arts in Zürich (www.zhdk.ch) and as a freelance and chairman of the Musician Pool at Forumfilmmusik (www.forumfilmmusik.ch)

Simon is one of the top young jazzclarinetists, admired by the public as well as by the jazzcritics,that have written good reviews for his recordings and playing.

He plays the clarinet with passion, virtuosity and in a modern, contemporary way.

He has written 2 books about the clarinet, and is very dedicated to play the clarinet in every musical setting, from Solo to Big Band, from Jazz to every other musical language.

Played for FIFA, Opera and Tennis VIPs

Simon is a member of the International Clarinet Association and plays a Buffet-Crampon Prestige Clarinet, Vandoren Reeds and AMT-Microphones.
