Sarah Weller
About Me
My Jazz Story
Who is Sarah Weller?
Sarah Weller is made up of many parts: singer, Ronnie Scott’s Head of Music, DJ, vintage habitué and all round jazz and funk enthusiast. Her love of music has seen her DJ
at Ronnie Scott's, a night she co-runs in Herne Bay called Soul by the Sea, Funky Nation and previously on jazzfm’s Internet radio station ejazz.fm where she was able to
display her love of vocalists and fusion and is still able to interview her many musical heroes.
Where has Sarah Weller been?
What have Chaka Khan, Limp Bizkit and Pink got in common? In terms of jazz…nothing but at some time or the other she has supported them during her varied singing
past. In terms of jazz you may remember the short-lived Perrier Jazz Awards. Sarah was a finalist. She is also a singer who loves to don a blond wig and fifties garb to
celebrate the life of Doris Day performing at Ronnie Scott’s and other jazz venues and theatres. She also fronts Urban Dwellers whose chilled out jazzy electronica caught
the imagination of Hed Kandi boss Mark Doyle. Satoshi Tomiie remixed Lover Man, a track that ended up on Pete Tong’s radio 1 show. She was a long-term member of
successful cult band The Tarantinos who toured extensively around Europe.
