I love jazz because of the lovely harmonic complexity of the chords - as well as the rhythms and groove - especially bossanova. I love jazz archtop guitars too! I was first exposed to jazz via Sergio Mendes and Brasil 66 - as well as all the the great jazz players I heard in the 60's backing singers - eg Barney Kessel backing Julie London My advice to new listeners - listen to everything -and if you are are writer - take chances and carve out your own style and niche!
