My Jazz Story
I love jazz because... a wise elder once said: "I never know what's going to happen next. Do you?"
I was first exposed to jazz... by my west coast cool-loving parents...and, later, by Traff Huburt, KRAB free-form Seattle radio.
I met [musician name]...Slim Galliard, who told me: "Never stop singing."
The best show I ever attended was...Miles Davis' "We Want Miles" tour
The first jazz record I bought was...John Coltrane Live In Japan, '66
My advice to new listeners... ...don't let academia ruin your passion
Or whatever else you have in mind. The industry fails young ears, if it fails to blow their minds...
