I love jazz, from traditional, to swing, to cool, to fusion. I love the standards' beautiful melodies, I love fusion's tension and release. My mother was a singer and I heard/learned many standards just hearing them as a small child. Years ago I attended a John Scofield concert in Austin Texas. He wasn't very well known at the time, so only about 75 people were there, when a few days before Larry Carlton had about 750 in the same venue. For those of us lucky enough to see that amazing performance; JS with his bassist and drummer, it was a terrific high. I've seen many wonderful jazz shows, but that one made me feel wildly elated.
