My Jazz Story

I love jazz because..., for me, it is the most natural form of musical expression I was first exposed to jazz...at the age of 8. I met [Ray Brown]... at The Bermuda Onion in Toronto after a performance with Oscar Peterson. The sweetest man ever. The best show I ever attended was... Montreal Symphony, Place des Arts, w pianist Angela Hewitt. The first jazz record I bought was...Vince Gauraldi Trio, I still love the restraint and relaxed groove! My advice to new listeners... "Listen closely," the best musicians are actually "the best listeners." Or whatever else you have in mind. — "Create music everyday—music is how we Live."

My House Concert Story

In 2009 I hosted a house concert to raise money for a dear friend who needed a liver transplant. In 90 minutes we raised about $3,000.00 toward her living expenses. For the event I wrote and performed a song in her honour. "Sweet Loraine Robbin" can be heard on my 2009 recording "Songs," (Apple Music/Spotify/etc.) recorded featuring my long-time music collaborator Joe Sealy.
