On Ka'a Davis is an accomplished guitarist of multiple disciplines, composer, bandleader, self-producer, teacher and author..Recent releases as leader have been 'Seeds of Djuke'(LiveWiredMusic.org) and 'Djoukoujou! featuring Luther Thomas'(Tzadik). Davis has introduced two projects; 'X-Ray Search Light Project', a studio-oriented project and 'Famous Original Djuke Music Players! an effort towards what Davis coins as 'djuke music'...Current project is 'Ago! Ye'h!'..Davis has released 28 titles from On Mu Music (ASCAP) as leader and producer. Artists include pianist Matthew Shipp; the horns of Luther Thomas, Andrew Lamb, Sabir Mateen and Electric Meg Montgomery; the voices of Marie Afonso, Kadiatou Sibi and Tess Reece; the basses of Juini Booth, RaDu Ben Judah, Francis Mbappe and Thierno Camara and the drums of Jojo Kuo and David 'Riddim-Athon!' Pleasant...During the eighties, Davis briefly guitared for Sun Ra as a member of his Arkestra, as was the guitarist for Don Ayler's septet, Charles 'Bobo' Shaw in his Human Arts Ensemble, and giged extensively with Luther Thomas and with altoist Khusenaton Shu Amon in the 'Esoteric Arte Ensemble of Sun Ra'. Collaborations with reedmen Daniel Carter and Sabir Mateen with the group 'The Future', and created with multi-instrumentalist TomChess as 'Bombpop!' as well as with various reggae artists during the nineties. Davis formed together with drummer Dalius Naujo and multi-instrumentalist Nick Gianni as 'Cartoon Satellite'...On Mu Music Press published 'Exerciricle: Keys to Museo-Ontology'..Davis founded East Village Guitar Salon a couple years ago...
