Mirjam Hassig
About Me
My Jazz Story
From an early age Mirjam fell strongly in love with music and singing. She surrounded herself with many different sounds and styles and sang in a children's choir, later
with various bands and experienced her first performances on stage.
She first was exposed to jazz at the Langanau Jazz Festival in Switzerland where she took classes with artists like Becca Stevens, Gretchen Parlato, Thomas Dürst, Jeff
Ballard and many more. Mirjam felt drawn to the freedom and playfulness of improvised music and started to study jazz vocals in Berne.
In her musical path she was taught by Andreas Schaerer, Efrat Alony, Patrice Moret, Collin Vallon, Django Bates, Frank Sikora and many more.
Through her studies she meet Susanne Abbuehl who became a big inspiration and a musical mentor to Mirjam.
Mirjam is the singer of different projects like Ayé! Mirjam Hässig (Mirjam Hässig), Lumor (Manuel Sidler&Flo Hufschmied), Inter-Musical Love Letter (Eva Kess).
She released her debut album with her quartet Ayé! Mirjam Hässig in November 2021 with which they won the cultural award Burgdorf and the audience award from the
ZKB Jazz-prize Moods. The music of Ayé! Mirjam Hässig is a mixture between electronic sounds from sensory percussion and acoustic instruments like the double bass
and harp. It is influenced by artists like Björk, Kate Bush, Joni Mitchell and invites the audience into the fantasy world of Mirjam.
Highlights from the past years were the album release concert in BeJazz Bern, a concert with Kleinmond at the Birdseye Club Basel, a concert in the Jazz Club Aarau, Jazz
Club Uster, Moods Zürich, the invitation from Christoph Steiner and Marc Stucki to a fully improvised concert in Burgdorf a featuring at the album release concert in Beeflat
Bern with band Murmullo (Clemens Kuratle)
