My Jazz Story
I'm a 41-year-old fiction author and journalist. My short stories have appeared in Open Pen, Litro, Storgy and Selcouth Station. My debut novel, Cutting Contest, was published in
2025. I regularly contribute to publications around the globe including The New York City Jazz Record, Jazz Journal, UK Jazz News, JazzWise, WeJazz, Hot House Jazz Guide, Free
Jazz Collective and All About Jazz.
I was born and raised in Stockport, UK. After graduating from the University of East Anglia, I moved to Germany. I now live in Hilden, near Düsseldorf.
I have very varied taste in jazz music. Above all, I love attending concerts where musicians improvise for a live audience. I prefer small venues to giant festival tents, and I enjoy
small bands more than big orchestras. But jazz covers a huge range of styles and experiences, and I'll listen to it all.
