My Jazz Story
I'm a 40-year-old fiction author and journalist. My short stories have appeared in Open Pen, Litro, Storgy and Selcouth Station. My debut novel, Cutting Contest, was published in
2025. I regularly contribute to publications around the globe including The New York City Jazz Record, Jazz Journal, All About Jazz, Hot House Jazz Guide and Free Jazz Collective.
I was born and raised in Stockport, UK. After graduating from the University of East Anglia, I emigrated to Germany. I now live in Hilden, near Düsseldorf.
I have very varied taste in jazz music. Above all, I love attending concerts where musicians improvise for a live audience. I prefer small venues to giant festival tents, and I enjoy
small bands more than big orchestras. But jazz covers a huge range of styles and experiences, and I'll listen to it all. And then write about it :-)
