About Me
My Jazz Story
The first time I heard jazz guitar it was a Wes Montgomery album. Even though I was a high school-bound folk-rocker I liked it. Wes was soo cool his
music touched my life it remains vital to this day.
My dedication to becoming a capable jazz musician was inspired by Larry Coryell most specifically his album 'Offering'. I bought it because of the
cover art a young, cool-looking guy playing an enormous, beautiful guitar and discovered music that floored me. I decided to get serious and study
guitar. And I made the effort to meet Larry. He became my musical mentor and we became life-long friends.
My determination is that, no matter what the setting, I still sound like Matt Richards. I think I've gotten pretty close.....
