About Me
My musical taste are varied. Nothing gets me going like Latin and world music. At the same time, Basie and Ellington can engage parts of my body and soul no one else can reach. Good jazz is like good conversation: exciting, engaging, equal, and enjoyable. These are a few of the things that flip that switch that lives inside each of us that can only be reached with music.
My Jazz Story
Monk said, "When you're swinging, swing some more."
Ella sang, "It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing."
Miles stated, "I don't care if a dude is purple with green breath as long as he can swing."
Buddy Rich professed, "But primarily, the drummer's supposed to sit back there and swing the band."
Do you see a pattern? No matter what, you gotta swing.
