Lileth Obias Furukawa

About Me

Lileth was born in Philippines, the daughter of a music teacher Emerita Zardilla Obias and a civil engineer Manuel Bersabe Obias.

Lileth was surrounded by music as a child, her aunts are music teachers and uncle’s are band leaders. It is the background that leaves it’s mark on an adolescent.

Lileth started singing in elementary school, (age 10) her mother who is teaching music in her school was her mentor, she was trained and won school competitions.

Her interest in music was enhanced by her sister Mila who was singing in one of her uncle’s orchestra. She discovered a love of music and that she wanted to be a singer.

Early in high school (age 13), Lileth took advantage of the singing groups, joined the high school choir, bands and sang at every opportunity. In addition to singing in school, she sang in church with her sister and cousins. They gathered every sunday afternoon, practiced singing, dancing and acting before going to church.

After high school, Lileth attended the University Of Nueva Caceres and was also kept busy performing in town festivals and events with her family band ( Bicol Express Band)

She was 17, when she and her cousins (Bicol Express Band) moved to Manila, performed in hotel lounges and night clubs. A year later, they moved to Olongapo City and performed in Subic (US Naval Base).

When her family band broke up because of the marriages of some members, she joined the Rock Candy live band, the best band in the city of Olongapo. Because of their good performances they were booked in Clark US Air Base in Pampanga City.

Her first job outside the country was in Seoul Korea at Lotte Hotel. Four months later, another music agent offered them a job in Osaka, performed at Astro Mechanicool live house (Hankyu 5 bldg.) and Saint Tropez live house (Kita Seinchi).

After 2 months, they went back to Phil. and performed in a Night Club owned by two famous celebrities in Phil. Ricky Bel Monte and Rosemarie Sonora. They were also lucky to be able to perform in Five Stars Hotels in Manila... ...at Philippine Plaza Hotel, Manila Garden Hotel, Manila Sheraton Hotel.

Lileth appeared in music television show ( Joe Quirino ) and afternoon show, ( Eat Bulaga ). She participated in the movie AGATONA featuring Melanie Marquez.

She quit the group and went to San Francisco & New york in 1983. toured around the country, from Syracuse to San Francisco.

She came back to Japan in 1984 and married a japanese national, ( guitarist and a very active father in school ). Tsugio is the PTA President in her children’s high school for 7 years and still acting as President . Emily ( her daughter ) followed her footsteps, ( a pianist and a singer song-writer ) performing in live houses and concert halls in Tokyo. Ryo ( her son ) is a second year senior and presently the drummer in their school band. Ryo is also active in school, he is the acting President in the student association in school.
