About Me

Born in Krasnoyarsk, Russia, I graduated from East Anglia's Creative Writing MA with the Ink, Sweat and Tears Scholarship. Twice a Dan Veach Young Poet's Prize finalist and 2019 Best of the Net nominee, I've been published by Poetry Salzburg Review, Richmond Times-Dispatch, Lighthouse Journal, The Claremont Review, amongst others, and is a contributor for Spectrum Culture, Southern Review of Books, Treblezine, and Virginia Living. I'm also a professional church musician, substituting as an organist for local churches (my favorite place I've played was Canterbury Cathedral).

My Jazz Story

I was first exposed to jazz through my aunt, a jazz radio show host. Before, I was mainly into classical music, but she showed me that jazz is not just piano improvisation or big band but a whole host of amazing sounds and styles.
