About Me
My Jazz Story
I was first exposed to jazz in the early 90's by my bible at the time, The Rolling Stone Album Guide. Seeing all of the albums listed by Miles Davis
and Coltrane, and looking at all the five star reviews, made me curious to start listening. Bitches Brew was first...hated it. A Love Supreme
confused me...then I found Giant Steps and My Favorite Things and things started to make sense. Rolling Stone did featured reviews on the whole
set of Sun Ra reissues, and it intrigued, so I started getting them, starting with Supersonic Jazz and Jazz in Silhouette, and from that point I was all
in on Sun Ra. A Jazz course the following year in college exposed me to other artists, Duke, Louis, Ella, Basie, on and on.
I have always been passionate about music, Rock and Indie Rock have been my primary focus for 40 years, but 4 years ago, I started to burn out
on it, I wasn't as excited, so I dove back in to Jazz and I haven't come out of it since then. I still love it, but now Rock is in the back seat, while Jazz is
driving the car. There is a whole world out there to discover, and it's brought back my passion and excitement about listening to music again.
Also, I absolutely love Bitches Brew
