Combining tradition with personal experience in sound
About Me
My Jazz Story
I love jazz because it touches the soul.
I was first exposed to jazz through PBS, and Billy Taylor on CBS Sunday Morning.
I met Herbie Hancock twice.
The first jazz record I bought was Milestones by Miles Davis.
The jazz albums that have had the strongest impression on me are: The Incredible Jazz Guitar of Wes Montgomery - Wes Montgomery; Blue Train -
John Coltrane; Live from The Showboat - Phil Woods (w/Harry Leahey-guitar); Circles/Jim Hall's Three/Jim Hall Live - Jim Hall; Milestones/Kind of
Blue/ E.S.P./Miles Smiles - Miles Davis; Ju-Ju/Speak No Evil - Wayne Shorter; The Real McCoy - McCoy Tyner; Unity - Larry Young; Born to Be Blue/I
Want To Hold Your Hand/Talkin' About - Grant Green ... more to come!
My advice to new listeners… Find a recording you like, then look for others featuring each of the musicians on the record.
