jazz: texts, gigs and all in between
About Me
Russsian journalist, booker and concert-maker.
As a journalist, worked for Jazz.Ru, the eldest jazz web portal in Russian and later - not just webzine but the only
paper magazine on jazz in Russian language. Made lot of reviews
(both albums and events), was sent to foreign jazz festivals to write about them. From 2020, involved in Jazzist.club
- a new webzine with a bit different attitude about jazz
journalism.
As a booker and concert-maker, made my own MuzEnergo project which was both festival and concert series plus a
booking agency to make gigs all over Russia, Enough to say
we brought over 1000 musicians from 44 countries to Russia from 2009, and still squeeze someone in during the
COVID restrictions. This work is on hold now, but who knows.
As a publicist, I run my own #mus4review service which helps let's say artists who deserve better recognition to
get reviews and radioplays worldwide.
Will love to hear from you in any context about all that.
My Jazz Story
Jazz makes it possible to see the diversity of your own self. I like to listen to the recorded music which is "popular" (up to pure commercial stuff) and to witness the live music which is "avantgarde", and vice versa. Just because the spontaneous creation is worthy when you witness it, but lost when it's recorded - and, once again, vice versa. I love jazz and I work for jazz, but jazz makes me love much more stuff around.
