Eric Chacon
About Me
Eric Chacón is a Venezuelan flutist and
saxophonist known for blending jazz, Latin
American folklore, and contemporary
improvisation. He has performed and
recorded over 100 times internationally,
across the US, Europe, and Latin America.
He was a member of the Simón Bolívar
Youth Orchestra and the Simón Bolívar Big
Band Jazz, performing at venues such as
Lincoln Center, Jordan Hall, Garonne Jazz
Festival, Jazz al Parque (Bogotá), Heineken
Jazz Festival (Bonaire), and major jazz
festivals in Venezuela.
Eric has released 8 solo albums, including
Mestizo (winner of the Pepsi Music Award
for Best World Music Album, Song, and
Artist) and Flautístico (a landmark jazz flute
album in Venezuela).
He has contributed to multiple Latin
Grammy-winning and nominated albums,
including Tesoro de Venezuela (winner,
2010), Marc Anthony for Babies (winner,
2017), Identidad by Miguel Siso (Best
Instrumental Album, 2018), Más de mí by
Tony Succar (winner, 2019), 5:10 AM (Best
Tropical Contemporary Album, 2023), Quien
trae las cornetas by Rawayana (Grammy
winner, 2025), and Grasa by Nathy Peluso
(Grammy nominated, 2025).
He has worked with artists such as Paquito
D’Rivera, Tony Succar, Oscar D’León, Chipi
Chacón, Tal Cohen, Ilan Chester, Soledad
Bravo, Rawayana, La Vida Boheme, and La
Movida Acústica Urbana.
Eric is an active educator, having given over
100 masterclasses, and is the co-founder of
the Venezuelan Wind Quintet.
Since 2023, he has been a Miyazawa Flutes
artist, performing with the Miyazawa 602
model.
He plays both flute and saxophone,
combining classical training with mastery of
jazz and Latin rhythms.
